June Caldwell combines an energetic storytelling style, humor, and the magical sounds of the hammered dulcimer, lap dulcimer, and guitar, to give listeners a total story experience. Storytelling sessions include original stories written by June, Native American tales and legends, and international folktales. Stories emphasize cooperation, peace, and are non-violent. Hands-on experiences for the audience are a part of most programs. Both children and adults are encouraged to get a close-up look at June’s collection of percussion instruments, to ask questions, and try out a simple tune. Programs are interactive with audience members playing parts, providing sound effects and singing along.
