Lawrence Gwozdz is an internationally known inspiring artist. Born with spina bifida, he has been an ambassador for the arts for people living with disabilities throughout his career. His debut in New York’sWeill (Carnegie) Recital Hall was described in Musical America as an “extraordinary performance of contemporary music” with “the kind of timbre Adolphe Sax most likely had in mind…always with subtlety and taste.” His CDs have all won high praise, and, in addition to his solo concerts, audiences delight in The Sax-Chamber Orchestra under his direction. The ensemble consists of 12 players on virtually all members of the saxophone family. Having performed at the International Very Special Arts Festival, Gwozdz is now offering a program of music by composers with disabilities in addition to an inspiring spiritual program entitled “Holy Saxophone.”
