Janese Lewis has been a featured soloist locally and internationally. She began singing in church at a very young age and studied voice with Phyllis Lewis-Hale at Jackson State University. A National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Competition Winner, Lewis has developed a presentation of music that includes opera and oratorio, spirituals, musical theater and jazz. Lewis has the type of voice that sends waves of bliss up your spine. Through master classes and workshops, she gives a knowledgeable, historical account of opera and spiritual backstories of African-American composers and singers. Lewis welcomes collaborative works and new music commissions.
