Annie B. McKee is a Mississippi storyteller and author, is a literary and performing artist and Teaching Artist. She contributes to the arts community in her roles as an author, teaching artist, storyteller, humorist, public speaker, playwright, journalist and creator of historic literary events, and Mississippi heritage projects. She is active with the arts and educational communities throughout the state. In addition, she serves as a teacher for creative writing classes and workshops as well as playwriting and performance arts classes for children and adults. Annie’s book project, “Historic Photos of Mississippi” (Turner Publishing), continues to be a bestseller for the publisher and is available at most bookstores throughout the Southeast. She has also written “Remembering Mississippi” (Turner, 2010). Using these books as meticulously researched resources, she tells the true stories of Mississippi, in costume for the period featured, to inspire Mississippi students and initiate Mississippi pride through the state’s history and heritage. Annie served as a teaching artist for the 2011 Whole Schools Initiative Summer Institute’s presentation “Gems of Local History Taught Through the Art of Drama.”
