Due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Mississippi Arts
Commission (MAC) is gathering support for the Gulf Coast artists and arts organizations. The resilience of the artists and arts organizations has been an inspiration. To see everyone coming together to help each other during this terrible time of loss is truly a testament to their love of art and of their community. The Commission, with funds from the Department of Labor, has hired a temporary Arts Recovery team. Sallye Killebrew, Arts Recovery Coordinator, will be working directly with artists and arts organizations on the Gulf Coast. Sallye is also gathering information on funding opportunities for artists and arts organizations who suffered loss because of the storm. Contact Sallye at 601/359-6075 or email artsrelief@arts.state.ms.us. Working along with Sallye is Maureen Donnelly, Arts Recovery Administrator. Contact Maureen at stormrelief@arts.state.ms.us or 601/359-6044.
