FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jackson -The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) will be accepting applications for its Building Fund for the Arts (BFA) program this June. The program provides funding for the renovation or expansion of arts facilities owned by arts-based non-profits or local governments.
BFA is funded through bond funds allocated by the Mississippi Legislature. Since 2001, the program has provided funding for 125 different projects, with 95 currently completed and $14.7 million spent. “BFA has been a very successful and tangible program,” remarked Malcolm White, MAC’s Executive Director. “It has given the arts an address in local communities; helping build economic development, facilitating arts education and advancing creative workforce skills.”
The program has a thorough application and review process. Organizations interested in applying must submit an Intent to Apply form by May 3rd and a full application package by June 7th. The full guidelines and application forms for BFA can be found on the MAC website at: www.arts.state.ms.us.
The Mississippi Arts Commission is a state agency, funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Phil Hardin Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, the Mississippi Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and other private sources. MAC is the official grants-making and service agency for the arts in Mississippi. The agency serves as an active supporter and promoter of arts in community life and in arts education.
