MAC to host a series of grant writing workshops for Mississippi artists and arts organizations

Jackson -The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) will host a series of grant writing workshops around the state, targeting Mississippi-based artists and arts organizations. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, January 22, 2009               5:30-7:30pm    Mississippi Arts Center – Jackson

Thursday, February 5, 2009               5:30-7:30pm    GumTree Museum of Art – Tupelo

Tuesday, February 10, 2009              5:30-7:30pm    Margaret Sherry Memorial Library – Biloxi

Thursday, February 19, 2009             10:45am-12:15pm      MSU Riley Center - Meridian

At each workshop, MAC staff will present an overview of the agency’s grant programs and other services. This will be followed by an in-depth discussion on how to prepare an application for the agency’s upcoming annual grant deadline on March 2nd. First-time applicants are especially encouraged to attend.

The Mississippi Arts Commission is a state agency, funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Wallace Foundation, Donna & Jim Barksdale, The Phil Hardin Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, the Mississippi Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and other private sources.  MAC is the official grants-making and service agency for the arts in Mississippi. The agency serves as an active supporter and promoter of arts in community life and in arts education.
