JACKSON – The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) is proud to partner with the MSU Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts to present the Mississippi Arts Presenter Network Statewide Gathering. The event will be held at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 9:30am to 5:00pm.
The Mississippi Arts Presenters Network (MAP) is a consortium of arts presenters with a mission to provide high-quality performing arts experiences to the people of Mississippi. MAP represents a cross-section of arts organizations, cultural centers with professional concert seasons, symphony orchestras, folk arts festivals, colleges and universities presenters and arts and letters series, as well as libraries and smaller entities. MAP activities range from full-scale main stage performances to workshops, master classes, and other activities in intimate settings.
Topics of discussion at the meeting will include “What is a Presenter,” “How Does My Organization Fit the Picture,” and “Professional Development Training and Network Opportunities for Presenters.” An outstanding group of professionals are scheduled to speak at the conference, including MAC’s Executive Director, Malcolm White and the Executive Director of the MSU Riley Center, Dennis Sankovich.
This conference is free to registered attendees and will include continental breakfast and lunch that day. A small number of travel subsidies will be available for those traveling more than 100 miles. The Mississippi State University Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts is committed to improve the quality of life and contribute to economic development in this region by providing entertainment and cultural enrichment opportunities, educational programming and a state-of-the-art conference and meeting space. The multi-use center presents a variety of performing arts events designed to appeal to people of all ages, backgrounds and interests, in addition to educational programming for students K-college and arts education training for teachers. The multi-use center includes the restored Grand Opera House of Mississippi and a four-story, state-of-the-art conference facility. The center is operated by Mississippi State University - Meridian Campus.
