MAC hosts artist Seminar

Jackson -The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) will host a professional development opportunity for visual, performing and literary artists on Thursday, January 21, 2010.  The seminar will be held from 9:00am to 4:30pm at the Mississippi Arts Center in Jackson.

The seminar, entitled “Building Your Future in the Arts,” will provide attendees with promotional ideas, strategies for working in schools and cultural institutions, and tips on developing arts-integrated lesson plans.  MAC Roster artist, Dianne de Las Casas, will present “Taming Technology – Using the Internet for Biz Success” where artists will learn to use technology to streamline business practices and to market through social media and other online methods.  In the afternoon, Sonya Robinson, a member of the Lincoln Center Institute Higher Education Collaborative, will present “Asking the Right Questions,” where participants will explore inquiry-based instruction and learn skills to speak the language of a collaborative partner.

The Mississippi Arts Commission is a state agency, funded by the Mississippi Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Phil Hardin Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, the Mississippi Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson and other private sources.  MAC is the official grants-making and service agency for the arts in Mississippi.
