JACKSON— As part of a statewide effort to bring communities, artists and art supporters together, the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) is hosting four town hall meetings in January to be held in Laurel, Brookhaven, Booneville and Clinton. Similar meetings will be held in additional communities in February at locations to be announced.
At the meetings, participants will exchange information, share ideas and advise the Commission as it prepares its 2008-2012 five-year strategic plan.
“We invite all citizens interested in the arts, cultural collaborators and folks of all walks of life to join the Mississippi Arts Commission for these town hall meetings to explore the effectiveness and scope of your arts commission,” said Malcolm White, the Commission’s Executive Director. “Come tell us how we are doing and how we can better serve your community, your schools and your overall quality of life. Together, let’s make a plan to put the arts into action.”
The meetings will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at each location. The morning session will include an opportunity for local residents to offer their input into the Mississippi Arts Commission’s future programs. MAC Program Staff will be on hand in the afternoon to answer grant writing questions and offer assistance in other arts related topics.
