Dear Colleagues,
As we reflect on the recent tornados and listen to news of the upcoming flooding possibilities, our arts constituents are on our minds. As you learn about those affected in our state by yesterday’s storms or tomorrow’s floods, please let us know. We can share information about your community’s status and assist in recovery. We can also offer assistance regarding how to prepare for upcoming interruptions and the importance of readiness.
Please share information about existing recovery resources with those you serve. Below are links to CERF+ about assistance and support for craft artists and ArtsReady, a service from SouthArts that organizations may find useful:
We know you may be focused on immediate needs, but when the time is right please us know if and/or how we may be of help.
Sincerely,
Sallye Killebrew
Interim Executive Director
Since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast and its cultural heritage, the Mississippi Arts Commission has been working in arts recovery and emergency preparedness in an effort to support and assist our arts constituents during and before times of disaster. With the recent severe weather in the state and the upcoming 2011 hurricane season, we want you to know that we are here to help you or your local arts entity in any way possible. Below are links to documents and resources that we hope will assist you as you make decisions pertaining to your emergency preparedness plan, as well as plans to protect your personal and/or professional situations. Please be assured that we are aware of the problems that accompany disaster and are actively involved in the planning process for dealing with unforeseen emergencies, from readiness to recovery to renewal.
