Mary Peavey

Mary Peavey is committed to promoting arts and education through her work as President of Peavey Electronics, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of musical equipment, as well as in her personal life.

An active and dedicated supporter of afterschool programs, Mary helped make Mississippi the first state to offer the “Afterschool is Key” car tag in 2006, and was named to the Board of Directors of the national Afterschool Alliance in 2007. She continues to bring the arts to children through strategic partnerships, events and music education programs around the world.

Mary plays an essential role in producing the annual “Mississippi GRAMMY Legacy Celebration,” which celebrates the fact that Mississippi has produced more GRAMMY Award winners and nominees per capita than any other state. The event features the Peavey Awards and was named “One of the Coolest Events on the Planet” by Vanity Fair in 2008.

The sixth-generation Mississippian graduated from Mississippi State University and completed the Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program. Most recently, she served on Governor Haley Barbour’s Commission to Restructure Education in Mississippi, and delivered the 2010 Evening Commencement Address at MSU.
