
Rachel Shemper Schwartz was born in Hattiesburg, MS. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, Rachel moved to New York City. While earning her Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University, Rachel nurtured her interest in the arts as she worked in an art gallery on Madison Avenue.
Since returning to Mississippi, Rachel has been an advocate for local arts programs. She has worked with the American Heart Association, chairing their annual fund-raiser, and fostering their fund-raising efforts through her development of their art auctions. Rachel has been a board member of the Hattiesburg Arts Council. She has been a member of Junior Auxiliary. Most recently, Rachel was named Chair of Partners for the Arts, the community support organization for the University of Southern Mississippi College of the Arts and Letters.
Rachel is married to Ronald L. Schwartz, MD, a neurologist at Hattiesburg Clinic. Her son, Alexander, is currently a 9th grade high school student at Oak Grove High School in Lamar County.
