Sallye Killebrew

Sallye serves as the Special Initiatives Director for the Mississippi Arts Commission and previously held the position of Arts Recovery Coordinator following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Through Arts Recovery, Sallye has administered $1,000,000 in grant funding to individual artists and arts-based businesses, as well as serving as a “resource center” for all coast arts entities; the performing arts, musicians, literary arts, museums, and arts organizations. She passionately supports the belief that the recovery and renewal of our arts and culture are crucial to the survival of a community, and that no recovery is complete without the recovery of our story and our place. Sallye holds undergraduate degrees in art and art history and a master’s degree in juvenile justice. She has been part of the ever-challenging free-lance art world and has taught art in the gifted classrooms on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Sallye now resides in Jackson but still calls the coast “home”.
