Susan Dobbs

Susan joined the staff of the Mississippi Arts Commission in January, 2006 as Public Relations Director. In her position, she is responsible for media relations for the agency, planning and execution of the annual Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts, conception and design of the agency's printed materials and managing the website.

Prior to joining the staff, Susan served as the Executive Director of Friends of the Jackson Zoo for seven years. There she was responsible for special event planning and execution, including several concerts (Zoo Blues, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw and Hootie & The Blowfish), the annual Fright Night and ZOOparty fundraisers.  She was also responsible for the organizations annual budget, working with a 20 member board of directors and all marketing and public relations for the organization.

Susan served on the Board of the Metro Jackson Attractions Association, was a stage manager at Jubilee! JAM and served as a volunteer at the Mal's St Paddy's Day Parade for six years.

Prior to returning to Jackson in 1997, Susan lived in Memphis and worked in sales and marketing in the hospitality industry for over ten years.
